Intrigued between the patagónica austral mountain range, to the foot of the mythical mount Fitz Roy, is El Chaltén, a small tourist town founded in 1985, in the North end of the Glacier National Park. Mountain town, receives tourists from all over the world who come to visit one of the most beautiful and pure places on the planet, with activities in its valleys and mountains, rivers, lakes and glaciers: hand-in-hand contact with authentic nature. Among them, Mil Outdoor proposes a different experience: «El Chaltén Rafting», offers raft descents in the Rio de las Vueltas, with category III rapids, in a unique environment of the Argentine Patagonia.
For those who do not have the possibility to stay in El Chaltén, we offer the option of doing the Rafting excursion in the Rio de las Vueltas, departing from Calafate at 7:30 am and returning late in the day (approximately 9:30 pm).
To the Full Day program, start with the pick up by the Hotels in El Calafate, after traveling the 220 km. that separate this city from El Chaltén, at 11am we will arrive at our destination.
Between 11 am and 3 pm there is free time to travel the national capital of trekking. Information about the different walks or about the points of interest of El Chalten, can be obtained from the National Parks Administration.
At 3:00 PM the passengers meet again at the meeting point and go to the base where they will be welcomed and the activity will be explained.
Each passenger will be provided with the required technical equipment: thermal suit, dry suit, helmet, life jacket and neoprene boots.
Once the passengers are equipped, they are transferred to the entrance area to the river, where the guide will give a talk on technique and safety of the activity, then embarks and starts the activity in the water.
The first zone consists of four kilometers of calm and meandering waters with the Fitz Roy behind us; ideal area to familiarize yourself with the raft, the river and practice the necessary paddling techniques.
The second zone is that of the canyon. Once avoided the initial rapid we will find a succession of fun and exciting rapids for 8 kms.
We finish the descent with a zone of 2 kms of calm waters. At the end of the tour our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to El Chaltén.
Return to El Calafate at approximately 8:30 p.m.
